The rapper Coolio is dead! He died in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the age of 59. The “TMZ” portal and the broadcaster CNN report this, citing the musician’s manager.

The musician visited a friend when he passed away, manager Jarez Posey said. Accordingly, Coolio went to the toilet there – but did not return. Then his friend found him lying on the ground.

An emergency doctor who was called declared Coolio dead on the spot. According to the report, the paramedics suspect he had a cardiac arrest. However, an official cause of death has not yet been announced.

With his song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” Artis Leon Ivey, as Coolio was called, made it a world hit in 1995. The song won him a Grammy for Best Solo Rap Performance. Two and a half months ago, the song broke the one billion views mark on YouTube.

In a recent interview, he said: “It’s one of those songs that last for generations. I didn’t use trendy words. I think that made it timeless.”

During his career, which began in the late 1980s, he was nominated for five other Grammys.

However, the rapper had repeatedly run into trouble with the law for illegally possessing drugs and weapons. He was also on trial in Germany in 1998. At that time, he was sentenced to six months probation and a fine for being an accessory to robbery and assault.

DJ Questlove (51) wrote: “Peaceful journey, brother.” Rap legend Snoop Dogg (50) posted a picture with Coolio on Instagram, writing: “Gangstas Paradise, RIP.”

Coolio was married to Josefa Salinas from 1996 to 2000. From this time, he had four children.
