Cooking Vinyl has announced the 40th Anniversary reissue of Telephone Free Landslide Victory, the debut album by Camper Van Beethoven, arriving September 5 on CD and LP.
Originally released in 1985, Telephone Free Landslide Victory includes one of the Redlands alt-rock band's best-known songs, “Take the Skinheads Bowling.” A local live appearance is slated for September (see below).
The 2CD deluxe reissue features the remastered original album, B-sides and rarities, and — for the first time — 11 previously unreleased 1983 demos that pre-date the album’s release. This edition comes housed in a 6-panel digi-sleeve, complete with a 16-page booklet featuring new liner notes by founding bassist Victor Krummenacher.
Also out on September 5, a limited edition green vinyl LP featuring an alternate green cover, restoring the band’s preferred track order.
The band will play the album in its entirety at the annual Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven Campout on Sept. 12 at Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown, as well as the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA on Sept. 17. For other live dates, go to crackersoul.com.
