National Philanthropy Day
Story and Photos by Pat Krause
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Desert Communities Chapter held its National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 6. The event celebrated its 20th anniversary at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa. The luncheon honors deserving individuals for their philanthropy and dedication to the community.

The luncheon started with Patrick Evans, a former honoree, who thanked everyone for coming. He asked everyone to stand while he introduced Winston Gieseke, who sang the national anthem. There was a lot of clapping afterward, as he sang it beautifully without music.
President Cindy Burreson spoke to the guests. Over 350 people attended this special day to honor friends and co-workers. Cindy spoke about how the community works together to change the world. It takes many donors, sponsors and volunteers to make this day happen. Each was named and recognized on a video screen.
